Digital culture - freud / fame monster

A poster for my Freud project... influenced by a lady gaga poster which I felt was quite fitting!

Reading through Freud’s books I was struck by how theatrical and staged the images were of him. He poses for the pictures as an actor might do. His office was well set as a stage might be with all kinds of artifacts and artwork about him to help tell his story. He is almost acting out his role for others to view, captured in photos instead of film.

Many have disputed Freud’s work, but to date, no one has yet proved otherwise of his theories and until that day comes, he will be remembered and talked about and so will continue to have the fame that he wanted so badly and succeeded in having!

Storyboard-01- digital culture

Digital Culture - Freud

Ok, for digital culture I've been reading about the Freud theories and one of his theories that jumped out at me was his idea that although we all have the inbuilt desire to reproduce and that is our destiny, we also have an ultimate goal and that is what Freud called the 'death drive' that our ultimate goal is actually to die.

I began to think about how I might visually illustrate/ animate this and came up with a little robot character who believes his destiny is to re-create himself. He spends his short life building a new robot in his image... only to realise that the final piece to be put in place must be his gift of life, taken from himself and ending his own - that is his mission.
