I think I probably have too many frames for an animated GIF as you should keep this sort of animation very simple with a small number of frames.. when you start getting up to 20 frames the animation may be too large to transmit to all viewers easily. The fluid animation we see
in movies includes at least 24 still images every second -- so animated GIFs
are fairly limited. To create a movie of any substantial length, you have to
make pretty big jumps between each frame, which means the animation is not very
fluid.
